Students hard at work creating fruit and vegetable faces |
Fourth graders are learning about the art of Arcimboldo. He was an artist that lived during the Renaissance that created portraits with fruits, vegetables, and flowers. In art class we discussed what some people might have thought "normal" art looked like and how Arcimboldo did not create a "normal" portrait. We analyzed how he would have made his portraits. We then created our own portraits from pictures of fruits and vegetables. Each student had to be creative with the materials to create a person.
